Summer will be here before we know it, and it is a perfect time to teach about the symbols of the United States. I love to travel and scrapbook, so I decided to make a fun, interactive text that had the look and feel of a scrapbook. This has been one of my favorite projects this year! Check it out:
The base of the book is regular 8-1/2 x 11 copy paper. I took great care to make this as easy as possible. Inside the book, each page has an interactive element. Three of the pages are pocket pages that hold artifacts from the journey across the US.
Can I just tell you how excited my kids were? Even though the level of text was a bit challenging for some, my kids met the challenge with excitement and vigor!
The book includes pages for the American Flag, the Liberty Bell, the Statue of Liberty, Mount Rushmore, the White House, the Bald Eagle, and the Gateway Arch. It also has two versions of the book. One is simple, and the other is a bit more challenging.
The unit also includes beautiful color posters that you can print and hang, some text-dependent writing activities, and more! Check it out my clicking any of the images.
Happy travels!
