Have you seen Disney's Monkey Planet yet? I wanted to share some new resources that I recently found that come from Disneynature. They are the folks who are in charge of all of Disney's conservation efforts, and are the driving force behind the newly released Monkey Kingdom movie. They are dedicated to promoting conservation for animals, and always produce such amazing films. During this week, lucky guests to Disney's Animal Kingdom will get to experience special programs teaching about global concerns.
Did you know that they have tons of STUNNING photo and video clips on their website? I remember showing this one when my class was studying penguins. ( I love penguins!)
Click here to go to the penguin video.
"The free Disneynature MONKEY KINGDOM Educator's Guide includes nearly 100 pages of lessons and activities targeted to grades 2 through 6. The lessons are aligned to Next Generation Science Standards, National Science Standards, and common core Language Art and Math Standards." HOW COOL IS THAT, FRIENDS? They have them for all of the films. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Earth one. Such great information about habitats and some tasks for a younger crowd. I will definitely be using that for our upcoming habitat unit.
They also have free guides for families. too. (Family movie night, anyone??? We do that every week!) Warning: I've been told there are a lot of monkey "private" parts shown in this movie!
Finally, Disneynature has a really cool interactive app for FREE!
This would be great for classroom science centers where you want to add a little pop of technology.
My kids really enjoy it. You have to growl like a bear and do other interactive things.
Super fun and free!
Stay tuned for more from my upcoming Earth Habitat units.
Until then, Happy Earth Day!!!
